VISA EXPIRATION

To verify your visa expiration, check the “Enter Before” or “Expiry Date” field on your physical visa sticker or e-Visa document.

This date marks the final day you may enter the country,

distinct from your permitted duration of stay (counted from arrival).

WHERE TO LOOK

  • Physical Visa StickerLook for a section titled “Expiry Date,” “ValidUntil,” or “Until.” This is the last day you are permitted to enter the country or, in some cases, the day you must depart.
  • E-VISA PDF – If you have a digital visa, the expiration date is usually clearly listed in the “Visa Summary” or “Validity” section of the document.

KEY TERMS TO DISTINGUSH

It is vital not to confuse the Visa Expiration with these other dates.

  •  DURATION OF STAY: It refers to the maximum number of consecutive days you are legally authorized to remain within the country per single entry, as explicitly stated on your visa (e.g., “30 days,” “60 days,” or “90 days”).

This timeframe is entirely separate from—and often much shorter than—your visa’s overall validity period (the window during which you may enter the country).

  • NUMBER OF ENTRIES: It specifies how many times you may legally cross the border and enter the destination country using the same visa during its validity period.

This field is critical for itinerary planning; misunderstanding it can result in denied boarding, refused entry, or accidental overstays.

  • PASSPORT EXPIRY: If your passport expires, your visa often becomes automatically invalid even if the visa’s own “Enter Before” or expiration date hasn’t passed yet.

This is because a visa is legally attached to the specific passport in which it was issued; when that passport ceases to be a valid travel document, the authorization it carries generally cannot be transferred or used independently.

IF VISA IS ALREADY EXPIRED

  • DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRAVEL: Airlines will likely deny you boarding at the gate.
  • CONTACT EMBASSY: If you are outside the country, you will need to apply for a renewal or a new visa category.
  • CONSULT AN IMMIGRATION LAWYER: If you are currently inside the country with an expired visa, you are “out of status.” It is best to seek legal advice before contacting immigration to avoid immediate deportation or travel bans.

The Earlier You Will Solve It. "

  • REMINDER: Return to your home country before your visa expires, or extend it, so you won’t have any problems with your stay in another country. If you don’t deal with it now, it will be more troublesome later. If you don’t know how to extend, better seek help from people who know how.
