AOSG
(Affidavit Of Support and Guarantee)

          AOSG is a legal document used primarily in the Philippine immigration and travel contexts. It is a formal declaration by a sponsor (typically a relative, friend, or employer ) affirming their commitment to ;

  • Provide financial support to a Filipino traveler during their stay abroad
  • Ensure the individual will  return to the Philippines
  • Cover expenses like travel, accommodation, food, and medical needs
  • Guarantee the traveler will not overstay or seek unauthorized employment

AOSG is a more formal version of the AOS and includes a guarantee clause. It’s typically notarized.

         AOSG is required when :

  1.  Family visits or reunions abroad
  2.  Tourist travel when the traveler lacks strong, independent financial proof
  3.  Dependent relocation or short -term stays
  4.  Medical or educational travel sponsorship

AOS
(Affidavit Of Support)

AOS  is a simpler, less formal version of the Affidavit Of Support and Guarantee. It is a legally binding document where a sponsor guarantees to cover a traveler’s expenses.

To obtain an Affidavit of Support (AOS) for a Filipino citizen (e.g., for travel or visa purposes), the sponsor must draft an affidavit and have it notarized by a local notary public. An Affidavit of Support serves as evidence that the traveler or beneficiary will not become a public burden or overstay without proper resources.

PROCEDURES

The PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN CHINA (Beijing) and its Consulates General (e.g., Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Chongqing) provide “Affidavit of Support and Guarantee”(AOSG) services, primarily used when a sponsor in China invites a Filipino national to visit for tourism or family purposes

  • FORMS: You can typically find a ” general affidavit “or specific “affidavit of support “forms on the official  Beijing Embassy Website or the prospective Consulate’s site.
  • SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:
  1. Sponsor’s valid passport and residence permit (for foreigners in China) or Chinese ID
  2. Proof of financial capacity (e.g., bank statements, employment certificate with salary )
  3. Proof of relationship to the invitee (e.g., birth or marriage certificates, etc )
  4. Flight itinerary and accommodation details
  • NOTARIZATION: The sponsor must personally appear at the Embassy or Consulate to sign the document in front of a consular officer.
  • APPOINTMENT: Most locations require booking an appointment online through the official DFA Global Online Appointment System or the specific mission’s website.
  • SEND TO BENEFICIARY: The sponsor must send the original, authenticated affidavit to the beneficiary in the Philippines. (ORIGINAL COPY WITH STAMP ON IT )

       IF IT’S AOS ONLY :

  • Draft the Affidavit: Create a document stating your sponsorship details, relationship to the beneficiary, and financial responsibility.
  • Send to Beneficiary: The sponsor must send the draft affidavit with signature to the beneficiary in the Philippines.
  • Notarize the Document: Have the affidavit notarized by a local notary public in the country where the person you will sponsor.

SIMILARITIES

Both AOS and AOSG act as proof that the visitor has sufficient financial means for the duration of their trip, often required for tourist or visit visas. It’s the responsibility of the sponsor person to guarantee they will cover all costs, including potential medical or repatriation expenses, ensuring the visitor does not become a  “public charge “.

AOS AND AOSG are additional supporting documents for immigration assessment. While they do not guarantee approval, it strengthens the traveler’s set of supporting documents and may help avoid delays or additional questioning during departure or visa processing. The documents help clarify the relationship between the traveler and sponsor, which may help demonstrate legitimate travel intentions.

FOREIGN PARTNER

Traveling abroad with financial support from a foreign partner can be exciting, but immigration authorities carefully check if travelers have sufficient financial backing and genuine travel intentions. This is where an AOSG and an AOS become important.

“AOSG or AOS is required by the immigration officer, mostly if your tourist visa and your travel are sponsored. “

  • Always remember that immigration requirements vary per country; some immigration is stricter when it comes to sponsorship for tourists, and travelers should ensure they prepare complete and truthful documentation before their trip.

  • Sometimes, immigration mostly prefers the AOSG( Affidavit of Support and Guarantee) rather than the AOS( Affidavit Of Support).

CORRECT VISA THAT APPLIES ON YOUR SITUATION

There is no single visa that applies to every situation. Visa requirements are highly specific and depend on multiple factors.

The “correct visa” is determined by the intersection of who you are (Nationality ) , where you’re going (Destination Rules ) ,and why you’re going (Purpose Of Travel ).

There is no universal visa – careful research and proper knowledge are essential for compliance and successful entry.

Once the following red lines are crossed, the rejection rate approaches 100%, and may even result in a permanent ban from entry.
