HOW TO OBTAIN PHILIPPINE PASSPORT

The Philippine passport application process is managed by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA)

and requires an online appointment for most applicants

PREPARE YOUR REQUIREMENTS

       A.) FOR FIRST TIME ADULT APPLICANTS (18+):

  •  PSA authenticated Birth Certificate (on security  paper) – original + photocopy
  • Valid government-issued ID (original + photocopy)
  • PSA Marriage Certificate (for married women using spouse’s surname)
  • Printed completed application form (from online appointment)

       B.)FOR PASSPORT RENEWAL (Adults):

  •  Current/expired e Passport + photocopy of data page
  • Valid government-issued ID
  • PSA documents only if changing name (marriage certificate, annotated birth certificate, etc.)

       C.) FOR MINORS (Under 18): 

  • PSA Birth Certificate
  • School ID (if applicable)
  • Valid ID of parent/guardian + photocopy
  • Personal appearance of the parent or authorized adult companion
  • Special Power of Attorney if the parent cannot attend

BOOK YOUR ONLINE APPOINTMENT

  1. Visit the website: passport. gov.ph
  2. Click “Schedule an Appointment” and click whether it’s an individual appointment or a group appointment, and accept the terms
  3. Select your preferred DFA consular office
  4. Choose an available date and time slot
  5. Fill out the application form with accurate personal details
  6. Pay the passport fee online (GCash accepted)

      NOTE: Your appointment slot is reserved for only 30 minutes while completing the form.

ATTEND YOUR APPOINTMENT

  •  Arrive 30 minutes to 1 hour early
  • Bring all original documents + photocopies
  • Wear appropriate attire: shirt with sleeves, no sleeveless tops, shorts, or slippers
  • Remove facial jewelry, heavy makeup, false eyelashes, and contact lenses
  • Personal appearance is mandatory for biometric capture (photo, fingerprints, signature)

RECEIVE YOUR PASSPORT

   A.Standard processing: Usually takes 7–12 business days.

   B. Expedited service: Pick-up within 3–5 business days (depending on the branch).

           Upon collection, you will need to present a receipt and a valid ID. If you are authorizing someone else to collect it on your behalf, a letter of authorization and both parties’ IDs are required. DFA generally offers LBC mailing services, but additional postage will apply. Alternatively, you can collect it in person at your local DFA.

ACCEPTABLE VALID IDs

     You may present any one of these (original + photocopy):

  •  Phil ID / Electronic Phil ID / Digital National ID*
  •  Driver’s License (LTO/BLTO)
  •  SSS/GSIS/UMID Card
  • PRC ID
  •  Voter’s ID or COMELEC Voter’s Certificate
  • Senior Citizen ID
  • Postal ID (issued Nov 2016–Sept 2023)
  • Valid passport (for renewal)
  • School ID (for enrolled students)
